Graduate Travelling

"Gain The Experience"
In my opinion the best time to go travelling is after university. I say this because you are at a stage in your life where you have no work commitments, you will have good friends from university in a similar position to yourself who will be willing to go too, and you will be a little bit wiser/more confident after completing a degree course. You may well say "How the hell can I come straight out of university and then fund a travelling trip?". Well it is possible. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Do your parents have a bond ready to mature when you're 21?
- Do I work during the term?
- Do I work during term holidays?
- Can I work a whole summer before travelling in September - will the weather in the southern hemisphere be better then anyway?
- Would I be prepared to get a job while I was travelling?
Many of you can answer yes to at least one of those questions and therefore you have at least one reason to go travelling. Here are some more:
- You will see the world and the wonder in it
- People always find a well travlled person interesting
- Looks good on a CV - employers view you as wise and experienced
- You meet great new people and make new friends
- Do not waste a great opportunity while you are young and still a little bit crazy
If by travelling you find you have a real passion for it, you could then maybe consider a job as a tour leader or a travel adviser/agent. There are many career oppotunities associated with travel.
